Rescued a Human

I received this from a dear sweet woman I did some herding with last year.
I thought it was lovely.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, but not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened, and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe.

I would promise to always be by her side.

I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.

So many more to be saved. At least, I was able to save one.

I rescued a human today.

I love crazy dog people.
Love knows no bounds and this guy's gonna give it back tenfold.

Some Catch up Pics

We have had 6 of Meg's pups left for a bit now...and I was getting kind of worried...but thanks to a couple simple changes their Godmother, Pam, suggested for their Petfinder listing we've suddenly got a new batch of potential adopters looking to come out this weekend.
Keep your fingers crossed they take some of these guys home!
They sure aren't getting any smaller!!  I picked one up tonight and thought I was going to need a spotter :)
They are however some of the nicest all around pups I've ever known.
So very sweet like their momma...and though I wondered about the DNA results...they have Golden personalities through and through!!!
It's like they should be service dogs, I just love them to pieces!!  Wish I could keep one myself! a a few pics
I've been gone and the weather has been not a lot of picture taking and I'm way behind on things...

Sleepy sweetheart.

Puppies in the dirt.
 A.K.A. my garden....

Think I'll wait to plant that til I can get it fenced...

Who could be mad at those cute faces though?
 Brown nosers :)

Momma Meg

Doesn't that one look like a little piglet??  So cute!

Sweet sweet Meg

I pray we find her a fabulous home--she is an amazing girl!
So full of love and life!

That last Beagle pup on his way out :)

Things are going well--pups enjoyed a BEAUTIFUL day yesterday out in the yard playing with the girls...but if only they could all find homes of their's hard being a black dog.

Puppy pics--and DNA results!!!!

Here are some pics Casey took today.
Gotta love our drab brown yard.
It's been cold and ucky here.
Spring--PLEASE come back!!

Last little Beagle boy waiting for his forever home.
Doing what Beagles do best--make noise!!

Meg playing with Ty--"holding" her baby
Have a mentioned what a SWEET girl she is??

Little puppy would like some lap time....

Looking out into the big ol' world.

These guys are getting big--some are close to 20lbs!

Ty, always the honorary "Daddy"--he is such a good boy!
He puts up with anything from kids and puppies
But is tough as nails and brave as a lion.

DNA test results came back on Meg's litter....
Pam and I are not too sure about their accuracy this round.

They were mostly Golden Retrievers
A little bit Maltese??!!??
and a tiny bit Rhodesian Ridgeback
